WHY I DECIDED TO START MY OWN TGP
Last updated: February 25, 2004

Summary: I decided to start my own TGP (Thumbnail Gallery Post) because I was uncomfortable with allowing other TGP owners to control my revenue stream by choosing or not choosing to post my picture galleries.

Today is Feb. 25 & it's been about a week since I decided to start my own TGP (free porn links). I mulled over the decision for a few weeks weighing the pros and cons and I finally decided to do it. It came down to one thing really: TGP's weren't listing my galleries. Well, at least the ones that would give me enough traffic to make it worth my while.

If any of you are unfamiliar with how TGP's and picture galleries work here's a brief primer. TGP's are big lists of porn links. The Hun, Persian Kitty, and WorldSex are all TGP's. Ordinary Joe's make Thumbnail Galleries (page with free porn pics, here's an example) and send them to TGP's in order to get people to click on the link and by sheer volume eventually get someone to buy a subscription from the site that they're promoting. TGP's make money by selling advertising and favorable spots in the daily listing (traditionally at or near the top). So if you're a surfer that found this article and wondered how anyone made any money doing this, you now know.

Back to my story. There are a few TGP's (out of the thousands that exist) that it is actually beneficial to be listed on. A few weeks ago I was listed on The Hun which usually gets 1.5 to 2 million hits daily (no that's not a misprint). I got 100,000 hits to my gallery as a result of being listed on his site for 3 or 4 days. I didn't make any sales though :-(.

So why not get listed on the Hun everyday? If only it were that easy. Everybody & their momma knows about the big TGP's and everybody & their momma send their own links to the TGP. So your chances of getting listed at a big TGP are pretty small.

I am extremely uncomfortable with allowing someone else to decided whether or not I make money. Because that's what submitting links/galleries to TGP's is. You submit a link, the TGP decides whether or not they want to list it. If they do you stand a chance of making money. If not, you better go do something else. In a word it SUCKS. So I decided to start my own TGP, make my own rules and increase my chances of making money.

I'll be writing additional articles in the future about how things are going with my TGP.
